Sukhi Bhaji Recipe

Sukhi Bhaji Recipe

Sukhi Bhaji is a seasoned potatoes dish made specifically for fasting. Boiled potatoes are mixed with green chilies and spices. Serve with farali poori.


  1. Heat a non stick pan over medium heat, add oil.
  2. Add cumin seeds and wait until they crackle.
  3. Next add curry leaves and chopped green chilies, stir for a second.
  4. Add ushed peanuts, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander-cumin powder, c mix well.
  5. Add potatoes, black pepper powder, lemon juice, salt and sugar, mix well and cook for 2 minutes, turn off the heat.
  6. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot with farali poori.


  • 3 Medium Sized Potatoes, boiled, peeled and cubed
  • 2 Green Chilies, finely chopped
  • 4 to 5 Curry Leaves
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Black Pepper Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Oil
  • Salt to Taste
  • To Garnish:
  • 1 Tablespoon Cilantro (Coriander Leaves), chopped

  3. Can someone give me instructions on how to make boiled and then baked potatoes? I have heard that some people first boil the potato and then bake in the oven? this would be really good for me, considering my oven hasn’t been working properly lately and it tends to bake only the outer layer of the potatoes leaving the inside raw! Please include how much time it needs to be boiled and then baked! ( I am a student in college and I am completely useless at cooking)
