Chole Bhature is popular particularly in northern part of India. It is a spicy chickpeas gravy served with bhature, onions and pickel.

Method:

  1. Grind onions and tomatoes together into a smooth paste.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan, add bay leaves, cloves and peppercorns and fry for few seconds.
  3. Add the onion tomato paste, ginger garlic paste and fry till the oil begins to separate.
  4. Add coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and dry mango powder, saute for 2 minutes.
  5. Drain water from the chickpeas can and rinse them well under running water.
  6. Add the chickpeas and mix well.
  7. Add salt and 1 cup water.
  8. Cover and cook on slow flame for 10 minutes.
  9. Garnish finely chopped cilantro and green chili.
  10. Serve with hot Bhature.

Ingredients

  • 2 Cans Chickpeas (400 gm each)
  • 2 Onions
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  • 4 - 5 Cloves
  • 4 - 5 Peppercorns
  • 1 Tablespoon Ginger-Garlic Paste
  • 1 Tablespoon Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Red Chili Powder
  • 2 Tablespoon Coriander Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Dry Mango Powder (amchur)
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 3 Tablespoon Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • For Garnish
  • 2 Tablespoon Cilantro (Coriander leaves), finley chopped
  • 1 Green Chili
