Shing Batata Khichadi Recipe

Shing batata khichadi is delectable dish made specifically for fasting. Boiled potatoes and roasted peanuts are mixed with green chilies, ginger and spices. Serve with yogurt.

Method:

  1. Heat a non stick pan over medium heat, add oil.
  2. Add cumin seeds and wait until they crackle.
  3. Next add curry leaves, chopped green chilies and ginger, stir for a second.
  4. Add crushed peanuts, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander-cumin powder, lemon juice, salt and sugar, mix well.
  5. Add potatoes mix well and cook for 2 minutes, turn off the heat.
  6. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot.

Ingredients

  • 3 Medium Sized Potatoes, boiled, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 Cup Roasted Peanuts, crushed
  • 2 Green Chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 Inch Piece Ginger, grated
  • 4 to 5 Curry Leaves
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • 1 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Coriander-Cumin Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoon Oil
  • Salt to Taste
  • To Garnish:
  • 1 Tablespoon Cilantro (Coriander Leaves), chopped
