Cucumber Mint Raita Recipe

Cucumber mint raita is a simple accompaniment for paratha or chappati. This nutrients paked raita is made with yogurt, cucumber, mint and seasoned with green chili. Minty cucmber raita can also be served with pulav or biryani.


  1. In a bowl, whisk the plain yogurt until smooth.
  2. Add diced cucumber, mint leaves, green chili sugar(optional) and salt, mix well.
  3. Garnish with chopped cilantro leaves.
  4. Serve with rice, chappati or parathas.


  • 1 Cup Plain Yogurt (Dahi/Curd)
  • 1 Small Cucumber, peeled and diced
  • 1 Green Chili, finely chopped
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar(Optional)
  • 1 Tablespoon Fresh Mint Leaves, finely chopped
  • Salt to Taste
  • To Garnish:
  • 1 Tablespoon Cilantro (Coriander Leaves), finely chopped

  1. I have started to cook indian food and am addicted! I have always spent a fortune on indian takeaways as i love the food so much!!
    I have started with a few curries and samosas, which are really great, but i would like a fool proof recipe for the yogurt and mint sauce for over the samosas and bhaji’s etc.
    I have already tried a couple of times to make it by just combining yogurt and fresh mint and a spot of lemon juice and salt, but it does not taste very good. I want a sweeter taste. The one at my favourite takeaway is magic in a pot!!
    Please help me make a good sauce!!

  2. Hi am looking to make our own version of Raita, the mint yoghurty sauce you can get from curry house! I am following weight watchers and the raita from the take away is half point per teaspoon. Anyone with any ideas on how to make it low points/low fat with not too many ingredients, therefore not too costly…much appreciated!

  3. i dont have any cucumber or mint?? is there anything else i could put in it? i do have yogurt.
