Kanda Bhaji Recipe

Kanda Bhaji is a popular roadside snack often enjoyed with Tea. It is spicy and crispy onion fritters and often eaten as an appetizer or snack.

Method:

  1. In a bowl mix together sliced onions and salt.
  2. Let it rest for 10 minutes. This will soften the onions.
  3. Add rest of the ingredients into onions, add a little water to make a thick batter.
  4. Heat oil in frying pan on medium high, add teaspoons of batter into oil.
  5. Fry untill golden brown. Drain on paper napkin.
  6. Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Gram Flour (basen)
  • 2 Small Onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 Teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
  • ½ Teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Carom Seeds (Ajwain)
  • 1 Teaspoon Cilantro (Coriander leaves), finely chopped
  • 1 Teaspoon Oil
  • ¼ tsp Baking Soda
  • Salt to Taste
  • Oil for Frying
