Doodhi Halwa Recipe

Doodhi Halwa is scrumptious Indian dessert. Grated bottle gourd simmered with milk, sugar, ghee and cardamom. It can be served as a snack or after meal sweet!

Method:

  1. Heat a heavy bottom pan over medium heat, add ghee.
  2. Add grated doodhi and saute until it turns translucent.
  3. Add the milk and bring to boil.
  4. Simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. When halwa is almost dry, add sugar and khoya (optional), mix well.
  6. Stir continuously until moisture has evaporated.
  7. Turn off the heat and add cardamom powder, mix well.
  8. Garnish with sliced almonds and pista, Serve.

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Bottle Gourd (Doodhi / Lauki), grated
  • 2 Cups Milk
  • 2 Tablespoons Khoya (optional)
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons Ghee
  • 2 Cardamom, powdered
  • To Garnish:
  • 2 Tablespoons Almond, sliced
  • 2 Tablespoons Pistachios (Pista), sliced
