Date tamrind chutney is served with almost all chaat dishes and variety of savoury snacks. This sweet and tangy chutney is very delicious and healthy.


  1. In a large sauce pan mix together dates, jaggery, tamrind paste and water, boil for 5 minutes.
  2. Cool to room temperature.
  3. Blend in a blender till smooth.
  4. Strain and transfer it back to sauce pan.
  5. Boil until thick, add red chili powder, roasted cumin powder and salt, mix well.
  6. Cool again. Store in clean airtight bottles and refrigerate.


  • 1 Cup Dates, pitted/deseeded
  • 1/2 Cup Jaggery
  • 3 Tablespoon Tamarind Paste
  • 2 Cups Water
  • 1 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Roasted Cumin Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
